I have a terrible weakness for--and
collections
of--elderly technology, 19th-century spoons, antique jewelry,
calling card cases, portrait miniatures, and orchids, among (many) other
things. Here are a few examples. Clockwise from top right: mid-20th century "Galion" telephone;
mid-19th century American ladle and teaspoon; English dyed horsehair
bracelet from the 1830s; silverplate note case commemorating the opening
of the New York City subway in 1904; assorted English and American portrait
miniatures from the 1830s-60s; Haraella odorata miniature orchid; and,
of course, me. |
